I want Advice on Setting Up Foodsoft for Our Co-op

Hey everyone,

I am part of a small but growing food co-op & we are looking into using Foodsoft to help us manage orders and distribution better. I have been reading up on it but I want to hear from those of you who have hands-on experience.

How easy was it to set up Foodsoft for your co-op?
Did you run into any major challenges when getting started?
Any must-know tips or best practices that made things smoother for you?
How well does it handle multiple suppliers and bulk ordering?

We are a pretty tech-savvy group but none of us are developers, so we are hoping it won’t be too complicated. Also; if you have integrated it with other tools
Also i have see this https://forum.foodcoops.net/t/problem-updating-foodsoft-adamuipath

Thank you…

Hi, welcome to the Foodsoft forum.

Where is your coop based? In the Netherlands?

Are you trying to host Foodsoft on your own server or are you using (or plan to use) a hosting service like the global one from Rokoli?

Hi there,

The reference you mentioned directs to a very old issue.
The foodsoft-adam fork has been deprecated some time ago: e.g. no maintenance is going to happen there anymore.
That is why the FC-A’damNoord (which I am part of) moved to the main upstream version last January. Others using that A’dam fork will follow soon.

Although self-hosting is an option, having it hosted for you may be the better and safer solution. Roko.li is the hosting party which to date is €1 per person/month. They will, however, introduce a new subscription plan soon which would be more favorable for a small FC. Roko.li is, via a partner, also contributing to the FS software.

When talking about other tools you may need to provide a bit more context.

Cheers
