Foodsoft monthly community call

Next call: Thursday 2025-05-22T15:00:00Z2025-05-22T16:00:00Z

Hi :waving_hand: I came across Foodsoft’s repo on GitHub while searching for open source projects to contribute to. I’d be interested in hearing more and potentially getting involved in some of the dev work. I’m a Rails developer with 1 year of professional experience.

I see that there is a call on 22nd May… would it make sense for me to join that and find out more there? Or is it better to chat with someone before joining one of these meetings?

Cheers,
Mike

Hi @mikerose and Welcome!
That’s great to hear
Feel free to join the meeting, but I can imagine that there might be a few topics to discuss already. Maybe that can already be interesting for you to see what’s going on at the moment, but indeed maybe a seperate chat might be more helpful for you to get you started  I probably won’t have time before the meeting. We could either chat afterwards or make another appointment.

If you’re on matrix feel free to join this room: #foodsoft-general:autonomic.zone

@yksflip Thank you! :slightly_smiling_face:
Ok cool. I’ll join the meeting to get a sense of what’s going on. That same day I actually head off traveling until late June, so my availability will open up more after that. That said, I’m hoping to carve out some time while l’m away (maybe I can get familiar with the codebase during that period) and then we can set up a separate chat once I’m back. Look forward to meeting you on Thursday :slightly_smiling_face:

I had that for next week on my calendar?

Yeah, I too was late. Unfortunately there was no announcement in the discourse channel for some reason. But steffen has now made the announcement for the next.

Either way: where are the notes as the Hedgedoc link shows nothing anymore?

True :open_mouth: I have no clue why though - I believe that link still worked during our meeting. Maybe some kind of (hopefully temporary) glitch. Or do you have a clue, where the contents went, @steffen, @yksflip ?

Yes, it seems the pad is broken. We decided to store our meeting notes from now on here in the forum (Community call meeting notes) and only use a pad during the meetup

Reminder: Today will be a call at 17:00 CEST.

Notes from today’s call

Thanks for the notes!

Because of a new job I was unable to attend.

I have experience with testing frontsends/apps, also with tools similar to Playwright. I have some experience with PW as in my previous job we were investigating to switch to it. Coming from a Jest/Selenium & Cypress combination, it looks very similar but solves a few issues. But likely will have its own specific “gotchas”, as any tool.
There are also options to mock backends/API which may be useful depending on how loose the new frontend will be.

As a sidenote: because of the new job, I got delayed in finishing the Mollie plugin work. I plan to work on that soon-ish
