Odin’s article database change

Hi all,

I wanted to share a recent change regarding Odin (a large Dutch organic wholesaler), which may be relevant for other Dutch Foodsoft users using Foodcoops.net.

Odin has stopped sending their article data directly (free of charge) and is now routing this through CWA, a centralized data service. This mainly affects foodcoops working with fresh products or weekly discounts.

This is not an issue if you only purchase non-perishable products from Odin, as we do. Prices for these products are typically updated only once per year (around January), so we can continue using the existing Odin article file.

For coops that do need to use Odin article data via CWA:

  • the XML format differs from the original Odin format

  • and there are costs involved (minimum €225 per year)

For context: we are using a locally hosted version of Foodsoft.

Curious to hear how Foodcoops.net is dealing with this.

Thanks :folded_hands:
